8th Edition

Issued 1890, South Paris, Maine, by J.H. Stuart & Co.

 pp. 109

Period 1/4 leather binding, covers decoratively blindstamped, front board gilt lettered. All mpas lithographed with full detailed original hand color.

In Good+ completely acceptable condition overall. Binding broken along joints as typical due to size and weight of boards, some surface soiling, scrape near bottom of front cover, corners exposed. Text block with some light scattered soiling and/or spotting, nothing offensive, atlas itself remains mostly clean tight & sound. The huge folding map of the state of Maine at front is printed on thin paper and is torn and in tatters, but still present.

At the rear are fine large double page maps of the United States & the World in Hemispheres with comparative mountain heights and river lengths (both dated 1879, Gray).

Many maps are remarkably detailed, naming endless specific home owners, businesses, rail lines, etc.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Please examine pictures closely, as what you see is what we will send you.

[note: we grade conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws.].

Overall sound and despite any flaws, still a nice old atlas well worthy of ownership for any collection and/ or display.

We've done our best to photograph the atlas so you can see the condition and we've tried to mention any flaws or issues.

Fine monumental 19th century folio atlas.

Measures c. 18 1/8" H. x 14 1/4" W.
